Coach Jared Smith, a Greece, NY native and Greece Athena graduate (Class of 2017), brings a strong background in both competitive hockey and player development to the Greece Storm. He played youth hockey throughout the Rochester area before advancing to junior hockey with the Buffalo Jr. Sabres and then the Rochester Monarchs (NCDC). Following his junior career, Coach Smith played four years of NCAA Division III hockey at Elmira College from 2020 to 2024, where he helped lead the team to a UCHC Championship in 2021. 

 

In addition to his playing experience, Coach Smith has been involved with Lakeshore Hockey Academy since 2016, focusing on individual skill development. He has served as Director of the Academy since 2022, working closely with youth players to help refine their skills and understanding of the game.

 

Coach Smith is passionate about giving back to the sport that helped shape his life. His coaching philosophy emphasizes developing players into better athletes and better people. He values discipline, doing things the right way, and building a close-knit, team-first culture both on and off the ice.
